Vintage French Seed/Feed Sacks

I was really lucky to find some seed and feed sacks last summer in France. They are not easy to come by, and seem to be ever so popular at the moment. They do make such great quirky cushions/pillows, table runners or laundry bags, for example.

I am going to list the smaller ones first.

SS1
Size - approx. 12 inches wide by 22 inches long. Has the logo on the front and blurb about the seeds on the back. Very good condition. SOLD, Thank you

SS2

This seed sack is almost identical to the one above. It measures approx 12 inches by 23 inches. It also has the logo on the front and the blurb on the back. At the top, where it had been stitched closed, you can see a few broken threads where the heavy yarn had been used for sewing it shut. Could easily be dealt with if, for example, you made this into a laundry bag.

SOLD, THANK YOU

SS3
Again, this sack is very similar to the above two, the measurements are 12 inches by 22 inches. The seed sack has the same logo and writing. There are three tiny areas of thinning, pehaps 1/4 inch. One is in the top left corner, the other two are on the right hand stripe. In good vintage condition.

I am really fussy when it comes to pointing out the slightest flaws, but one has to remember of course that these seed and feed sacks haven't been carefully stored in a wardrobe, they have been thrown around and stored in barns. It is quite amazing that they are in as good condition as they are. I love them even more with all their little imperfections. SOLD, THANK YOU

SS4
This is the red version of the above sacks. Measurements are 11 3/4 inches by 22 1/2 inches.
Stitchlines across the top. There are a few small marks at the bottom of the sack.

In addition to the logo on the front and the usual blurb on the back, it also has a year stamp on the back, I believe it is 1969. £ 12.00 + £2.00 p&p NOW ON SALE £9.50

FS1
This is the smaller version of the feed sacks. I love the picture on the front, always reminds me of the white Charolais cows in the field next to our cottage in France.

Measurements are 13 1/4 inches wide by 19 1/2 inches long. Condition is very good.

SOLD, THANK YOU

FS2
This one is BIG! Approximately 21 inches wide by 38 inches long! The picture is exactly the same as on the smaller one above, the whole thing is just bigger.

I do have another one of these sacks, which I have to launder first though. It seems it has previously been laundered with a few bits of the feed still in it, lol, which makes for quite an interesting pattern when held against the light, but is probably not what you want.

SEM
I love this one, it has the loveliest logo in the shape of a shield, in beautifully faded blue and yellow. And it is large, it measures approx. 15 inches wide by 33 inches long.

There is a 3/4 inch hole on the back of the sack, approx. 3 1/2 inches from the top and 2 inches from the side. As it is so high up, you could easily just trim the top, and use that lovely bit of fabric in another little project, for a little lavender heart or door hanger perhaps. Condition otherwise is very good. SOLD, THANK YOU

Just like at a brocante, a lovely mix of vintage French goodies. What might tempt you today?

The first item is a beautiful antique cross. Usually when you do find one, the velvet is very rubbed and worn, but this one is in really lovely condition. The velvet is plush, the deep red colour hasn't faded at all, it has been ever so well looked after. It really is a beautiful piece, with the little shell under the cross for the Holy Water -

French Velvet Cross £28.00 International Postage £5.00 ( Europe refunded £2, Uk £2.50) SOLD, THANK YOU
