Antique French Linen Sheet

This is a beautiful 19th Century heavy linen sheet of fabulous quality. In the 19th Century, the looms were narrow, approx 100cm wide, so sheets had to be made in two panels, and then sewn together. This is a gorgeous example of sheets from that era. The fabulous embroidered monogram is approx 17 1/2 cm high and beautifully executed. It also has a rather lovely drawn thread detail at the top.

Antique French Monogrammed Sheet

I dislike polycotton bedlinen immensely. There is nothing like using proper cotton or linen sheets to keep the skin breathing properly. Linen is definitely my favourite, so cool to sleep under in the summer for example.

Thats why I love French bedlinen so much. Often the sheets are pure linen, hand loomed and beautifully monogrammed. Sometimes the old sheets are a linen/cotton mix (metis ), but it is only the more modern sheets which are just cotton.

This sheet is probably from the early part of the last century as it is a whole sheet, not made up of two parts. It has a large monogram ( 10cm, 4" approx ) and a beautiful drawn thread hem. There are a few broken threads
but that easily fixed. The quality is really lovely, with a firm weave and beautifully softened by many many washes.

Superb Antique French Pillowcases

Anything fabricy (especially old linens and antique/vintage fabrics) has always been my first love. Antique French bed- and table linens are just about the most beautiful pieces you can get. These pillowcases are truly exquisite. They measure approx. 80cm square including the trim ( approx. 69cm square inner measurement ).

The trim is beautiful. Completely hand stitched whitework embroidery in a gorgeous deeply scalloped design. But thats not all. The monogram ( approx 7cm high ) is absolutely fabulous. It is worked with the finest thread and is incredibly dainty. The pillowcases fasten with mother-of-pearl buttons of course. I have two matching pillowcases available.

Granny Square Crocheted Blanket

I love lankies, I don't think one can ever have enough of them, they are always so handy to have when it gets a little nippy or when the family feels a bit under the weather ( thats how I justify my yarn purchases, lol ).

This is not a newly crocheted blanket, it is a vintage one, in beautiful strong pastel colours. One huge granny square! The yarns used are acrylic, I think, which makes laundering it so easy, you don't have to worry about shrinking or felting it! The crocheting is really neatly done ( unlike mine, sigh ) and it is a good snuggle size - 70 inches by 70 inches approx., thats almost 180cm square! It is in excellent condition. £ 35.00
